Floating offshore wind innovation

We are pleased to share the great news today from Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) as they confirm the award of £ 31.6 million in grant funding for the demonstration of innovative floating offshore wind technologies. JDR was among 11 entities awarded funding in the BEIS challenge areas. Our project is titled – Accelerated development of Higher-voltage Export & Array cables for Dynamic applications (AHEAD) will see JDR collaborate with @ORECatapult to develop, test and validate the performance of High Voltage Dynamic Array Cables. These new cables will be developed at JDR’s Hartlepool facility and tested at ORE Catapult at Blyth. The project is also well aligned to the government-supported new JDR HV Cable Facility in Cambois, Northumberland facility development – project construction is being planned to start in the summer of 2022.
