JDR is thrilled to have the opportunity to host The Business Network for Offshore Wind in Hartlepool yesterday and showcase our expertise and capabilities in the field of offshore wind. The visit is part of the US based Business Network’s study tour aimed at providing delegates with a comprehensive understanding of the offshore wind industry.
The visit is particularly noteworthy due to JDR’s involvement in the Vineyard Wind 1 project, where we will supply approximately 130 miles of inter-array cables for the first commercial-scale offshore wind project in the US. Additionally, JDR is supporting the project through subsea training programs for individuals with an electrical background, creating the first cable termination technician teams in Massachusetts to ensure skilled labour is available locally to support the project and the ongoing maintenance of the US wind industry. The JDR team also presented our investment in the state-of-the-art subsea cable manufacturing facility in Cambois, near Blyth, in Northumberland, UK, which will provide increased capacity and capability to manufacture longer cable lengths for turbines located further offshore, enabling the connection of the next generation of offshore wind projects.
The visit was an invaluable experience that will positively impact both our understanding of the growing offshore wind industry in the US and our collective efforts to foster increased collaboration between UK and US companies. The Business Network for Offshore Wind tour involves visiting various companies in the Northeast of England before the delegates join the Global Offshore Wind conference in London.
